Zamboni Challenge

Yep. Zamboni. One word and most know what it is. It is a legend in the ice arena world. After skating or before a hockey game, out comes the Zamboni…the amazing ice cleaner, smoother machine. That would be my definition, certainly not an official definition. There is only one… Zamboni. There is no other. It’s not like you hear the word Zamboni and think of a bird, or a car, or a vacation spot in Jamaica. It’s a Zamboni. It’s totally unique.

So, my thoughts ramble towards the word CHRISTIAN. What if the name of our faith elicited the same unified response? What if the reputation of a CHRISTIAN was as unmistakable? What would it take for the reputation of a CHRISTIAN to be that solid, that meaningful, and that consistent? Whatever that is for you today… I challenge you to do it.

Perhaps God is leading you to study the Word more? Perhaps you need to work on memorizing Scripture so that it is closer to your heart and head when you need it in an instant? Maybe it’s learning to not raise your voice when you are angry. I can relate to that one. I come from a long line of Polish “yellers.” I think it started in the farm days of my family history. Who knows for sure, but I know I have the “yeller” gene (I would beg to differ that it is not a learned behavior).  God moved on me to work on my old “yeller” ways. A quick cure or mindfulness of your voice and tone and intonation… leave your windows open all the time. I thought to myself that when I am alone in my house, I sometimes use a tone of voice that is not honoring of God, of me or of my children (often the focus of my frustrations).

I sat down and really had it out with God. We needed a plan. I needed accountability. I know God sees me even when no one else does, but it’s hard to remember that. So, it came clearly… open your windows and see what that does for your accountability. It worked, and it still works to this day. I am much more in control of my voice, but some days still need to open the windows for a little accountability. The end result was that I was open to being pruned by God on my way to being a more consistent and solid CHRISTIAN.

What is the Zamboni challenge for you today? I pray you are open to His moving and prompting on allowing yourself to be more transformed into the likeness of Christ for the sake of eliciting a unified response on who you are as a CHRISTIAN. That is FIERCE Christian living my friend!
